Dear Colleagues:

On behalf of Indo American Psychiatric Association, I extend a heartiest welcome to you for our 34^thannual meeting in the City of Golden Gate Bridge!

For past 33 years, our annual meetings have provided excellent scientific programs and a platform for recognizing the excellence of our members. In keeping with our long held convention, the 34^th convention promises to present an outstanding scientific program to be followed by celebration of solidarity.

Since inception, our Association has been and will continue to be a gateway for the members of first and future generations to make this professional body as the world's largest organization of psychiatrists of Asian Indian heritage! Its strength has allowed the Association to reinforce the old bridges and build new ones on international scene. 

To name a few, mutual cooperation with Dilip V. Jeste (American Psychiatric Association), Paramjit Joshi (American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry), Narendra Kumar (American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin), Roy Abraham Kallivayalil (Indian Psychiatric Society), and Avdesh Sharma (Indian Association of Private psychiatry) has led to unprecedented beginning and strengthening of multilateral relationships of IAPA with various organizations throughout the world. I take this opportunity to thank the leaders for their cooperation, collaboration and contribution.

We congratulate the winners of 2013 IAPA awards: Outstanding Academician  - Dr. Mani Pavuluri, MD; PhD; Outstanding Public Sector - Dr. Babu K. Rankupalli; Outstanding Service Award – Dr. Amit Chopra & Outstanding Resident  Dr. Ujjwal Ramtekkar.

This is the year of transition, and new team under the leadership of Vani Rao, MD is ever ready to take our Association to newer heights of organizational excellence and service to our members and community. I warmly welcome Dr. Rao and her team, and wish them success in their tenure.

Past 2 years, as President, have allowed me to learn a lot from my outstanding teammates. I am afraid I might inadvertently do injustice with some if I were to begin acknowledging invaluable contribution of each and every person; truly, I can't thank them enough. I must, however, acknowledge 3 individuals, for without their help, I and our organization would not be enjoying this milestone – Nalini Juthani (Chair, BOT); Vani Rao (President Elect); Anwar Feroz (Honorary Adviser).

The Chapters of our Association are the pillars of our organizational strength. I am happy to inform you that a meeting of Chapter Presidents in Spring, 2013 has further reinforced our Association. I appreciate Khenu Singh, MD who has led the host team in organizing 34^th annual meeting.
